Ninth Wave Press (ninthwavepress.com), the publishing arm of the Sisterhood of Avalon (sisterhoodofavalon.org), is pleased to announce the release of Silver Wheel: A Devotional Anthology in Honor of Arianrhod, a collection bringing together more than 50 scholars, poets, musicians, and devotees in tribute to this Welsh Goddess of fate and destiny.
Arianrhod appears in the Fourth Branch of Y Mabinogi as an independent ruler of her own island court. She refuses the mother role forced upon her, and lays three binding destinies on the son she is compelled to acknowledge. Long considered to be a cautionary tale of a “false virgin,” her story has increasingly been reclaimed by modern practitioners as one of sovereignty, testing, and the reclamation of personal and feminine power — a reading Silver Wheel takes up directly.
Alongside scholarly essays examining Arianrhod’s mythological context, celestial associations, and role as weaver of fate, the anthology includes devotional poetry and invocations, guided meditations and ritual practices, original artwork and photography, and seven original musical scores composed in her honor — complete with sheet music.
Notable contributors include Kristoffer Hughes, Tiffany Lazic, Síthearan NicLeòid, Giles Watson, Michelle Skye, Robin Corak, Bridget Engels, Pegi Eyers, Mellt the Storyteller, and Jhenah Telyndru.
“This is the book I have waited for all my life, a key to aid any who wish to devote themselves to a Goddess who is multifaceted, complex, and brilliant.”
— Mhara Starling, author of Welsh Witchcraft: A Guide to the Spirits, Lore, and Magic of Wales
“An outpouring of love and devotion to Arianrhod from more than fifty voices… This collection, like Arianrhod Herself, is bold, wise, and powerful.”
— Tamara L. Siuda, Ph.D., author of The Complete Encyclopedia of Egyptian Deities
All proceeds from Silver Wheel support the Sisterhood of Avalon Land Fund, which sustains the physical and spiritual home of the Sisterhood’s Avalonian Tradition.
Silver Wheel: A Devotional Anthology in Honor of Arianrhod is available now on Amazon.com and Bookshop.org. Review copies, contributor interviews, and additional images are available on request.
About the Book
